Curatorial note
A deeply expressive ceremonial carpet from the Ait Jaacob tribe, woven in saturated ruby-crimson from live-sheep wool dyed with madder and pomegranate. The composition is built around a bold vertical axis of stacked ceremonial niche forms, each containing gestural sub-motifs — abstract shields, comb symbols, and protective talismanic marks — woven with the freedom and confidence of a master hand. The borders carry dense geometric marks in ivory and charcoal. The wild original fringes of teal, cream, and rust are untrimmed and entirely authentic. Vintage and one of a kind.
