Curatorial note
A large and soulful carpet from the Ait Jaacob tribe whose rose-terracotta ground carries the beautiful wear of decades of use. The full-field diamond lattice, rendered in dusty sage green, pale turquoise, and ivory, has developed a soft abrashed patina that no new piece can replicate. Each diamond contains nested geometric sub-motifs drawn from the protective symbol vocabulary of Ait Jaacob women weavers — signs worn on the face and hands for protection, identity, and blessing. Vintage and one of a kind.
