Curatorial note
A bold contemporary Azilal carpet in the autobiographical tradition of the High Atlas Berber weavers. Against a vast ivory field, irregular colour blocks — crimson, sky-blue, olive, peach and teal — float freely across the composition, connected by sinuous black outline contours that divide the ground like the tributaries of a river seen from above. The overall effect recalls abstract expressionist painting yet remains entirely rooted in the improvisational visual language of Amazigh women weavers. Long original fringes on both ends intact.
