Curatorial note
A densely hand-knotted carpet from the Aït Youssi tribe of the Middle Atlas, woven on a warm madder-rose field. The central composition is a repeating diagonal diamond lattice enclosing small geometric star medallions in golden amber, olive green, and ivory — motifs drawn directly from the tattoo vocabulary of Aït Youssi women weavers. A lush outer border carries a continuous vine-and-flower motif in cream and deep rust. The wool, sheared from live sheep and spun by hand, retains a rich lanolin lustre. Vintage and one of a kind.
